Here we are, years later. It is now August 2016, just days (or maybe weeks) before the birth of our first child. No, we do not know the sex yet - we have decided it's worth waiting for this kind of secret to be revealed on its own.
We've moved to beautiful Vancouver for the summer. The idea was to have the baby here to make sure he/she gets automatic citizenship - anything to avoid bureaucracy and paperwork. But we also just wanted to have a peaceful summer in one of our favourite cities, and close to my parents.
We both arrived in early June with ample time before the due date on Aug 18th. It's idyllic here - at least at this time of year. We're staying with Jean and Court - two amazing friends who have opened up their home to us. We're just a 30 mins from Kits beach, where Vancouverites soak up their summer fill of sun, swimming, picnics and volleyball. We have to pinch ourselves to remind us that it's only like this for a few months a year (now wonder there are so many people!).
We've been lucky enough to see many friends already - Neil & Niky, Niraj & Sarah (all the way from Indiana), Roberta (from DC), Nick & Deborah, Nick & Erica, Fareed & Zahra, Katie & Rob... even Mylan & Jay (on a quick trip from London)... it's been amazing. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such warm friendships.
Anyway, so here we are in our final days as a family of just two. We are excited... nervous... and anxious. It will be any day now. I can hardly wait to meet the little guy/girl. I don't think I've ever looked forward to something so deeply in my life. The clock is ticking.
